ThiEYE launched an action camera a few months back that is called the ThiEYE i60. Come mid-2016 and ThiEYE has announced yet another action camera, dubbed the ThiEYE V5e. One glance at the images of the device and you would undoubtedly notice the unusually large lens. Well, turns out it’s a detachable lens that can be replaced with different filters such as a UV Filter (included in the package), CPL Filter, Graduated Color Filter, and a ND Filter. Moreover, the body of the camera is made up of an aluminium alloy for that premium feel. Nonetheless, the device also sports a screw hole at the bottom which allows you to connect the camera directly to your tripod or selfie pole.
The ThiEYE V5e action camera comes equipped with an Ambarella A7LS75 chipset, a 16MP Sony Exmor R CMOS image sensor, and a 170-degree wide-angle lens. The device is capable of recording videos at 2.3K (30fps), 1080p (60, 30fps), 720p (120, 60, 30fps) with 4X zoom on tap too. You get various other options such as loop cycle recording, time-lapse, motion detection (video-recording starts automatically when motion is detected), etc.
The camera also captures still images upto 16MP with single shot, self-timer and burst-mode available too. The ThiEYE V5e sports a 2-inch screen, a micro-USB port, an HDMI port and a microSD card slot. Storage of images and videos is on a microSD card that needs to be bought separately.
The action camera is WiFi-enabled, allowing you to control the device and live-stream video from your Android or iOS smartphone. As far as the battery is concerned, you get a detachable 1180mAh one. The ThiEYE V5e camera will start shipping at the end of July and will be available in two colors: black and silver. Inside the box, you get a UV filter, a manual and a USB cable.
